Student Definitions
Matriculated Students - Full-time and Part-time
A matriculated student is one who has completed the entire admissions process and has been accepted into a degree, diploma or certificate program. Students are considered full-time if they take 9 units or more per semester (which may also include interterms). Students carrying less than a 9 unit course load in a semester are considered part-time.
Non-Matriculated Students
Anyone with a bachelor’s degree may register for a credit course without applying to Trinity, if he or she has met the prerequisites given in the catalog and there is space in the class. Non-matriculated students may take up to three courses (no more than two in any semester), but must then apply for admission to a program. The credit earned can be transferred to that program.
Transfer Students
Students transferring from recognized seminaries or graduate schools may be given course credit for prior graduate work. The credit given is determined by the Academic Dean and the Registrar after comparing the catalog and course syllabi. Trinity requires two years of resident study for its M.Div. degree and one year resident study for its M.A.R. and M.A.M.E. degrees.
Auditors
Anyone (with or without a bachelor’s degree) may register to audit two courses each semester without applying to the school, if he or she has met the prerequisites given in the catalog. Auditors are expected to read the required texts to be able to participate in class discussions. However, after consulting with the instructor, they may have the option of whether or not to prepare papers or take exams. Audited courses do not receive grades, and no audited courses may be applied to any certificate, diploma, or degree programs apart from students in the CBCS program. Auditors pay half the tuition. Courses that may not be audited or audited only with the permission of the instructor, will be listed at registration. No DMin course may be audited.
International Students
As a rule, international students, other than those brought by the Stanway Fellowship, will be considered only if a responsible Christian organization commits itself in writing to the pastoral and financial support of the student and his or her dependents during the entire time here. Trinity currently has no scholarships for international students other than the Stanway Fellowships.
