"By God’s infinite Mercy, allow me to present to you my granddaughter, Miss Jordan Kate Duprey. I am so grateful to have been in Richmond, Virginia when she was born and so grateful to God for the gift of this beautiful child, her mother, Jamie, and my son, Jeremy. God bless you all. Peace and much love, David+" (David Duprey, MDiv 1988)
Malone Gilliam (MDiv 2007) was ordained to the priesthood on February 23 at HopePointe Church in The Woolands, TX, by the Rt. Rev. Philip Jones of the Anglican Mission in the Americas.
The weekend of January 11-13 was a big weekend for Trinity alumni. Julia-Marie (MDiv 2007) and David Halderman's baby boy, Duncan (2 months) was baptized Sunday the 13th, with Andy Bracken (MDiv 2007) and his wife Sheila there as Godparents, and Mike MacDonald (God willing MDiv 2008) participating in the service as deacon. The baptism took place at New Grace Church, an AMiA church in Orange Park, FL currently meeting in Orange Park High School while they are in the process of building their new sanctuary. Additionally, Clarissa’s (22 months) Godparents Dave and Karen Maurer (both MDiv 2007) were ordained to the priesthood the day before Jan 12, in Los Angeles, and there were several alumni and current students in attendance there.
John Yates (MDiv 2003) graduated from Cambridge with a PhD in New Testament on October 13, 2007. He completed his dissertation, Lord and Life-Giver: The Spirit and Creation in Paul, in December of 2006 under the supervision of Prof. Markus Bockmuehl. John writes, "During my studies I was supported by a generous gift to Trinity from an anonymous donor. This gift, which contributed 25% of my annual costs, made the PhD possible for us (John's wife Alysia is a Trinity alumna also - MAR 2003). We are extremely grateful to Trinity for this ongoing support."
From Woody Volland (MDiv 1990): "Church of the Epiphany Celebration (Anglican) (Mount Dora, FL) started yesterday in grand fashion. We had 147 people, guests from several churches, full praise band, drummer, trumpet player, everything. And Bishop-elect John Miller (AMiA) did the sermon. Nothing but rejoicing and laughter and praising God – it was unbelievable. The Lord has blessed us with a regular church home (thanks to a local AG congregation) and also provided some killer office space. Our pledging is solid and there's money in the bank. Nothing left to do but say 'Thank you, Jesus!' and press on!!"
Joe Gibbes (MDiv 2006) wrote to us recently: "Thomas Joseph Gibbes was born June 12, 2007 – so sorry for not keeping everyone up to date! He and his big sister Caroline, 3, are doing great. Ministry-wise, my title at St. John's was recently changed from Curate to Associate Rector. We will be conducting our 2nd annual Men's Skeet Shoot in late February, and our Men's Hiking ministry will take another hike in late April, along with several other area churches."
Karen Maurer (MDiv 2007) writes, "Dave (MDiv 2007) and I are joyfully serving in two neighboring parishes in Southern California. Dave is Deacon-In-Charge Under Special Circumstances (soon to be Priest-in-Charge) at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Fontana, and Karen holds the same title at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Rialto. We enjoy doing as much ministry together as possible, but each of the two congregations has a very different ethos and we find it difficult at times to both minister in BOTH places. Needless to say, the challenges are many and the learning curve is steep; but we are having a ball! On January 12th, we will be ordained into the Sacred Order of Priests along with seven of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are excited, humbled and awed by this and ask the age-old question: "Is there ontological change?" (!) We covet your prayers and presence, although we know your attendence is a long shot! God bless you all – we miss you."
Dylan Potter (DBCS 2006) and his wife Jacqueline are now living in Edinburgh, Scotland while he works on a Ph.D. in systematic theology (Topic: angelology) at the University of St. Andrews. He would be delighted to help any Trinity students who have any questions about further study in the UK. He can be reached at dpotter1972@aol.com
Rob Sparr (MDiv 2006) was ordained December 16 as the Pastor to Youth and Families at Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, in Allison Park PA. Rob is the first to be ordained in the New Wineskins Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He and his wife Heather are also awaiting their opportunity to go to Ethiopia to finalize their adoption of a little girl.
Phyllis Bartle (MDiv 2006) wrote: "Things are great here (Orange City, FL)! A lot warmer too, I'd bet. St. Jude's is a great little parish with warm and friendly people who seem to be growing in their faith and love for the Lord. Praise God for that. I am truly blessed to have been called back to Central Florida to work with a great Bishop, too. The other amazingly cool thing for me is the opportunity to work with my husband. He's the deacon here and is also taking classes toward ordination to the priesthood in the next couple of years. Wow! Who'd have thought that would be possible? I truly enjoyed my time at Trinity and love hearing from others in their work and ministry."
Dan Tuton (MDiv 2003) will be installed as the new vicar of Hope Episcopal Church in Albuquerque on Sunday, October 28, and Bishop Terence Kelshaw (Trinity Board member emeritus) will do the installation. Dan and Michele most recently were in Reistertown, Maryland, and moved to their new call about a month ago. New Mexico is not foreign territory to them, as they moved to Trinity from Gallup seven years ago when Dan started seminary.
Ann Dickinson (MAR 1993) has released her third album, Harried Housewives' Hymnal, a collection of songs written by Ann with lighthearted singing for mothers and their children. The second album is Prayer Time, a collection of songs based on scripture and the character of God. The first album, A Song to Sing, was recorded locally by former Trinity staff member, David Sadd, who has moved on to use his wonderful gifts with churches in South Carolina. The second two were recorded at SoundQuarry.com, the recording studio of one of Ann's real estate clients. Both albums are performed by the band Ann&Co. Pam Fleming on violin, Elizabeth Dickinson on flute, David Dickinson on acoustic and electric guitars, and Karl Anker on base guitar interact with delightful accompaniments to Ann's catchy tunes and memorable lyrics. The CDs can be heard and/or purchased at the Trinity bookstore or in Sewickley at St. Stephen's Book Corner or the Christy House Needle's Eye. Or listen to one of the songs on www.MySpace.com/annandco.
Jacob Worley (MDiv 2004) writes: "Hey guys! I have exited (happily) TEC and am now in AMiA. I have planted a church that God is blessing in amazing ways!
Church info: St. Patrick's Anglican Church, P.O. Box 935, Las Cruces, NM 88004. GOD IS GREAT!"
Tina Lockett (MDiv 2001), Trinity's Director of Admissions and Dean of Students, was the keynote speaker for the Province IV Episcopal Church Women’s Annual Conference on June 4, 5 and 6 at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, NC. There were 100 women from dioceses throughout the United States. Bp. FitzSimons Allison served as Chaplain. The topic was Acts 2:42: "And they devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayers."
Mike Morrissey (MDiv 1992) is vicar at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Port Orchard, WA, Diocese of Olympia. He is also diocesan chaplain of the Daughters of the King. Mike and his wife Penny recently attended the annual Daughters of the King retreat on June 9, where Theresa Newell (MAR 1994, DMin 2005) was the speaker.
Dave Newhart (MDiv 2005) writes, "After serving two years at St. Helena's in Boerne, TX, I have been called to be the Rector at St. Elizabeth's in Sebastian, Florida. My first Sunday will July 22, 2007. Tillie and I will be returning to our original Diocese and will close to children and grandchildren."
Nick Lannon (MDiv 2007) and his wife Aya are settling in at their new church, Grace Church Van Vorst, in Jersey City, NJ where Nick is curate.

Vicki Gladding (MDiv 1998) writes: "Back to Africa again! From June 3- June 22, 2007, I will be traveling in Rwanda and Kenya. The focus of this mission is to lay the groundwork for the development of sister congregations relationships as well as meeting with African missionaries for strategic planning. Prayers for travel and divine appointments are greatly appreciated."
Sandy Lamprecht (CBCS 2002) is traveling to Uganda for five weeks (June-mid July 2007) on mission work. She will be working with young girls and orphans for two weeks at Rafiki Village, Uganda and then three weeks with helping to train Bible study leaders, visiting and assessing needs of widows and providing devotionals for young girls in the Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese in Western Uganda (Hoima). She is working with Shirley Morris (SAMS/SOMA missionary and a permanent Deacon from Ascension in Pittsburgh). Please pray that there will be permanent spiritual fruit arising from this work in Uganda and that God would be honored and glorified. Many thanks!
Jay Parker (MDiv 2001) recently had another article published in Touchstone Magazine. "Benediction Fiction" describes his being un-invited to give the benediction at the commencement for the Medical University of SC. You can read it here. Audio files for the talks he and others gave at "Faith of our Fathers: A Colloquium on Orthodoxy for Anglicans" can be found here.
Lisa Hurst (MAME 1995) has been teaching with several mobile arts programs around San Antonio for the past 7 years. She also has led team building activities on challenge courses for high risk teens by teaching various life skills. In addition, she has designed a unique line of jewelry called "Watch Out" that utilizes vintage settings and watches. She most recently became a Licensed Massage Therapist and finally discovered what she wants to do when she grows up–for now! She says, "Ministry has been a crazy journey but a beautiful one!"
Dan Alger (MAR 2004) and his wife Karen now have a son! Elias Vance Alger was born September 15, 2006. The Algers are serving the Lord at The Church of the Apostles in Hope Mills, NC.
