Jan Bova

A Caring Specialist

Webster's defines a librarian as a specialist in the care or management of a place in which literary, musical, artistic, or reference materials are kept for use but not for sale. Trinity's library assistant, Jan Bova, is definitely a specialist in care and management but of far more than research materials. Born and raised in Ambridge, she has always lived within a five block radius of the school. The library is located where she and her mom shopped at the A&P. She remembers when she first heard the school was starting, and upon interviewing with a gentleman by the name of Dr. John Rodgers, she was certain this was where she wanted to be.

One could focus on Jan's work, which has stood the test of time and spanned changes in staff and facilities. Beyond that, however, she has purposed to be a part of the students' lives academically, emotionally, and financially. For 30 years she has been mother/sister/aunt/grandma to countless students, most far from family and friends. The relationships are reciprocal and she is the first to tell you that she has been blessed in return beyond measure.

She has not experienced the beauty of living on the coast or sat warmed by a fire in a vast estate in the north.  She has not dined with dignitaries or danced in great halls.  She lives in a modest apartment a block from the seminary and has out-lived the family she was born into.  Yet her Trinity family continues to grow with each year and her wealth is found in that which cannot be seen.  Her faithful investment in the mission of the School through work, support and financial gifts come together to enrich the lives of those who go out “even to the ends of the earth.”

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, people will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
~2 Corinthians 9:12-13
