D.A.S. Online

What is D.A.S.?

The Diploma in Anglican Studies (DAS) is designed to provide a rich understanding of the theological, historical, and biblical ministry of the worldwide Anglican Communion for those who have studied the basic theological disciplines. The diploma is intended for leaders in the Anglican Communion and those seeking ordination as deacons and priests in the same. The DAS is also an ideal program of study for those transitioning into the Anglican Communion from another denomination. Participation in the DAS program can occur entirely in the regular residential community, through the interterm program and through TrinityOnline or in a combination of any of these venues.

Admission Requirements

Those applying for this program must have:

  1. completed a bachelor’s degree
  2. completed preparation in the basic theological disciplines either by receiving a Master of Divinity degree or comparable graduate theological education in theology, or by completing Trinity’s four Foundation Courses (CH 500, NT 500, OT 500, ST 500)
  3. demonstrated gifts for ministry appropriate to the ministry for which they are preparing
  4. the ability to benefit from the program and successfully complete the diploma

Field Based Education

In the second year of study, students will participate in liturgical and pastoral leadership either in a current Anglican ministry setting or in a new specific environment. DAS field base requirements can be fulfilled through a 12 hour per week supervised internship over the course of a year. Criteria and methods of evaluation are done in collaboration with the Director of Field Education.

The DAS Advisee Group

All students (residential or distance) are placed in an Advisee Group just for DAS students which is facilitated by the Director of the Center for Distance Learning. This group engages each other by phone call, email, and through the DAS Discussion Board available through TrinityOnline. The group meets to share spiritual fellowship together, pray for each other, discuss their progress through the program, and receive academic advising. The group also has the opportunity to share interests and challenges with each other as disciples of Jesus.

Residential Intensive

At the end of their program of study, students will come to campus for three days in May to meet face to face with all DAS students from all study venues who are preparing to graduate. At the end of this time, students will have the opportunity to participate in Trinity’s regular graduation. The intensive will include:
