The Rev. Dr. Laurie Thompson, Dean, Doctor of Ministry Program
Laurie grew up in a business home and wanted to be a stockbroker until, as a new Christian, he was put in charge of his college fellowship and saw it grow from 10 to 220 members. Encouraged by his rector and others, he and his wife Mary went to Trinity Seminary in Bristol, England, and later General Theological Seminary in New York. Ordained in 1979, Laurie served in two pastoral positions until he was called to Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in the summer of 1997. He recently completed his Doctor of Ministry degree, fulfilling his hope of being part of the first graduating D. Min. class at Trinity. His thesis, entitled Babel Revisited, addresses the challenge of effective evangelism training in a local congregation in light of diverse personality types. Laurie's pastoral experience has inspired him to engage in the spiritual and intellectual renewal of clergy in his role as the second director of the Doctor of Ministry program.
