Ann Castro's Greek Text Now Published

If Ann Castro, Trinity’s adjunct Greek professor, was asked once, she was asked a hundred times: “So when are you going to publish your book?”  At last there is an answer to that question: right now.  Greek For All Ages is now ready.  Two years ago, Trinity grad Travis Hines (MDiv 2005) finally pushed Ann to get it done by asking if he could take her teaching materials to Africa with him when he goes there to teach.  For a whole year he sat in on Ann’s Intro to Greek classes, making suggestions and checking the material.  Then Ann spent all of last year getting it ready for publication.  Through a friend of Travis’s, she found Word Association, a small publishing company on the east side of Pittsburgh, who were willing to take on the project.  It took a lot more time than she ever dreamed, Ann says, but she is pleased with the results.

The text itself includes all of the basic course material, including many new features such as a complete vocabulary list and an updated index.  There is also a workbook in two parts which includes all of the exercises and answer keys:  the material that started the whole project and which students repeatedly tell Ann they find the most beneficial.  The final piece in the project will be a teacher’s manual available in CD format for those who wish to study on their own or for anyone involved in teaching others.  Ann’s hope, as the title of the work suggests, is that the material is now accessible to a wide range of users: traditional classrooms from high school through seminary, home schoolers, those who want to learn Greek on their own, and those who may have an opportunity to teach Greek in their parishes.

The text and the first part of the workbook are available now in the Trinity bookstore or directly from Ann (anncastro@nwboronet.com).  The second part of the workbook will be available by the end of January.  Eventually all three will be listed on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
