From the Academic Dean - Announcing Trinity's New Theological Journal

I’m a pretty even-keeled kind of guy – at least I think I am, some may disagree – but this week I am really excited. This week, as I write this, the first issue of Trinity’s new publication – the Trinity Journal for Theology & Ministry – will go to the printer.

Some readers who have followed our school’s history for a long time will know that for many years we had a journal called Mission & Ministry. For a variety of reasons that publication petered out several years ago. Some of us have been saying for a while now that we need something else.  (Seed & Harvest is a great thing – but it is more news than views.…) We needed an instrument that would allow the faculty of Trinity and others who share our educational mission to develop some writing which will help the body of Christ to think through some of the issues that are facing us today. And since we don’t want to be driven by the agenda of the culture around us, we also want to remind our constituency of ideas and issues that are often neglected in the midst of controversies that seem to press upon us.

Enter the Trinity Journal for Theology & Ministry. Okay, it’s not a flashy title. It’s a bit functional in a way. But it does describe what we want this new entity to be and do. Let me take you word by word.

It is a “journal” (a serious academic periodical), “for” (we want to encourage the church itself to think Christian-ly, hence “for” not “of”), “theology” (it will be a journal which seeks to put the knowledge of God in the central position), and “ministry” (we want to support biblical, Christian thinking which makes a difference in real peoples’ real lives).

So, this is the shameless plug: SUBSCRIBE NOW. Do it today!  Pay a little money – only $30 a year will get you two whole issues of the Journal! Encourage your pastors, parishioners, children, parents, friends, and enemies to subscribe. We think you will find it is well worth the investment.

The premier issue, due out this month, is a set of essays on Anglicanism Past and Future and is dedicated to our Church History Professor Emeritus, the Rev. Dr. Les Fairfield. The essays are both thought-provoking and faithful. Enjoy.

The Trinity Journal for Theology & Ministry is published twice yearly (Spring and Fall) by Trinity School for Ministry.  Subscription rate is $30/year.  Single issue price is $15. Please make subscription checks payable to Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, and write “Journal” in the Memo line.  You may also choose to contact the Development Office to subscribe over the phone, or print out the subscription form at www.tesm.edu/resources on the Trinity web site and mail it with your payment to:
