From the Interim Dean and President
Dear Friends of Trinity,
I am happy to peek out at you from the inside front cover of Seed & Harvest to give you a chance to see the wonderful resource we have in our library here at Trinity. I don’t know if you have ever given the matter a great deal of thought, but a library of top quality is essential to a solid preparation for informed, biblically based, deeply Anglican leadership in the congregations of the Church.
When we began this School for Ministry or “seminary,” one of the matters that caused us lots of time, money and energy was the building of a substantial library. We did not want just a sufficient number of books, but rather we wanted the right books, and that meant looking world-wide to find those no longer in print, as well as the newer books just coming into print, that were pertinent to our work. God in His mercy actually led us to several major sources, where two or more seminaries were merging and their duplicates were precisely what we needed. Thus it was that we moved a good bit quicker than we otherwise would have been able to do. God’s provision through many of you and His gift to us of outstanding librarians has continued to the present. We now have one of the finest collections available. We are effectively and graciously led by our head librarian, Susanah Hanson, and her staff. In addition, we are now housed in an outstanding building, which is both attractive and well designed.
As you know, “Of the making of books there is no end,” so the work of carefully selecting, acquiring, processing and shelving the appropriate books continues. We try to do this with the greatest care to spend our money wisely, and we greatly appreciate your support of our annual budget from which the library funds are drawn. Please come into the library the next time you are on campus. It is a welcoming place and there is much for you to do there. You will find being there a blessing.
Warmly in Him,
+John
